Terms and Conditions
1. The 2011 Paraplanner of the Year Award (the “Competition”) is being conducted by Paragon Paraplanning Ltd trading as The Paraplanner, The Core Business Centre, Milton Hill, Abingdon, OX13 6AB (“The Paraplanner”).
2. Entry to the Award is open to all residents of the UK and Northern Ireland who are currently working as a paraplanner as an employee of a financial adviser or in a freelance or outsourced capacity.
3. The Competition commences on 8 August 2011 and applications (i.e. completed entries) must be submitted in accordance with these terms and conditions by 17:00 on 19 September 2011.
4. To enter the Competition, applicants must:
a) Register online at www.ppoty.co.uk (the “Website”); and
b) Complete the technical questionnaire (answering all the questions), and submit a testimonial and essay (in accordance with the instructions on the Website) by 17:00 on 19 September 2011).
5. Applicants may only enter the Competition once. The Paraplanner accepts no responsibility for incorrectly submitted, delayed, misdirected or illegible entries into this Competition.
6. A panel of judges consisting of representatives from The Paraplanner and AXA Wealth will review the applications and select the winners. Entrants will be judged according to the number of correct answers to the questionnaire and their submissions. Members of the Panel may interview by telephone and/or email applicants at a mutually convenient time if further information is required.
7. The Winners will be contacted by telephone and email during the week commencing 27 September 2011 and their details will be published on the Website and in various industry publications.
8. The Winner will receive:
a) Registration for the Institute of Financial Planning Annual Conference , 3 to 5 October 2011.
b) Hotel accommodation for the nights of 3 and 4 October 2011.
c) A cash prize of £1,000.
d) A trophy
10. There will be a prize for the entrant with the highest score on the technical assessment who will receive an iPad 2 and training support worth £1,000 from Wizard Learning.
11. The winners must take the prizes as specified above. Where applicable, the prizes cannot be redeemed for cash, exchanged or transferred to another person. All Winners acknowledge and agree that all other costs associated with the prize, including taxes and other ancillary costs, are their own responsibility.
12. Chance plays no part in this Competition. The Panel’s decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into. Any applicants or applications not complying with these terms and conditions or involving fraud or any other illegal activity may be disqualified by the Panel and/or replaced by another applicant at any time. The Paraplanner reserves the right to at any time undertake any verification checks of the application submitted.
13. By entering the Competition, all applicants confirm and agree that they will abide by these terms and conditions, they are the person who submitted the application on the Website, and the application is their own work. Applicants who submit multiple entries will be judged on their first entry only.
14. The Paraplanner is not responsible for any incorrect or inaccurate information, either submitted by the applicant on the Website, or caused by equipment or programming used in this Competition, or for any technical error that may occur during the administration of this Competition including any omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, network failures, technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet or on the Website, software failure, theft, destruction, alteration or unauthorised access to the applications or any injury or damage to any person’s computer related to, or resulting from, participating in this Competition.
15. The Paraplanner and its associated agencies and companies shall not be liable in any way (including, without limitation, in negligence) for any loss or damage whatsoever suffered (including, without limitation, indirect or consequential loss) or for any loss or damage or personal injury suffered or sustained in connection with using any prize, except any liability that cannot be excluded by law.
16. By entering the Competition, the Winners agree to participate in publicity activities associated with the Award including interviews and photo sessions requested by the sponsors, The Paraplanner and the Institute of Financial Planning.
17. The information entrants provide will be used by The Paraplanner for the purpose of conducting the Competition. The Paraplanner may disclose the personal information it collects to contractors it engages to assist it in conducting the Competition or communicating with the applicant. The Paraplanner is bound by the Data Protection Act. Entrants can access the personal information which The Paraplanner holds about them by contacting us here.
18. The promoters may without notice combine the Awards and prize fund if it is deemed that there are insufficient entries.
